FORT SMITH, Ark. (May 11, 2017) – While living in Australia, Kaity and Gabe Gould dreamed big in their first year of marriage. Kaity worked as a barista for a coffee roaster where she learned about growing, harvesting, and the roasting process. This love for coffee is what inspired the Fort Smith Coffee Company.

After moving back to the states and having four children, the passion for coffee resurfaced when Kaity and Gabe started home-roasting coffee beans over four years ago. They then decided to invest in a commercial small-batch roaster and began selling at the Fort Smith Farmers Market. Their coffee gained traction and they soon began dreaming of sharing a cup of their fresh roasted coffee with friends, neighbors, and the community.

Inspired & strengthened by their family and friends, Kaity and Gabe began looking for a way to put legs to their vision in late 2015, but the timing needed to be right. They landed on the corner of Rogers & Towson (1101 Rogers Ave, Fort Smith, AR 72901) where they had the opportunity to give new life to 1928 built, Deep Rock Oil Co. building. The “Coming Soon” sign went up on the building the day before Unexpected and renovations began November 1stof 2016. “We wanted to be a part of the fresh vibe downtown and had the opportunity to revive the history of our quirky little corner,” said Kaity. The building features functional glass garage doors, and tables built with wood pulled out of the building during demolition. Original “Fort Smith Coffee Co.” items are displayed, from the early 1900’s, and a local artist painted a map of fort smith on the wall.

Kaity says, “We believe we will offer a place for all people. A place for date nights, study sessions, business lunches, and everything in between. We want to share, not only our love for coffee but a fresh approach to food as well. For us, coffee is just a gateway to the people.”

Fort Smith Coffee Company will be open 7 days a week, 6 AM – 10 PM. They will serve single-origin coffee that is roasted on site.

Grand Opening will be May 12, 2017, starting at 6 AM.
